Clean-Up Drive at Tagamusing River: A Collective Effort for a Cleaner Tomorrow
MAY 28
In a united move to protect and preserve the environment, a clean-up drive was conducted along the Tagamusing River on May 28, 2025. This collaborative effort brought together several key organizations and community members, all working hand-in-hand to rehabilitate the river and raise awareness on the importance of environmental responsibility.
The initiative was actively participated in by the Extension Services Office of the University of Eastern Pangasinan, DENR-EMB-RO1 Urdaneta Satellite Office, BJMP-Urdaneta, LGU-Binalonan MENRO Office, and Barangay Poblacion. Their joint presence showcased the power of inter-agency cooperation and grassroots involvement in promoting sustainable environmental practices.
Volunteers gathered early at the site, equipped with cleaning tools such as gloves and sacks. They braved the riverbanks to clear out debris, plastics, and overgrown vegetation that had accumulated along the river's edge. The teamwork and enthusiasm of both young and seasoned volunteers made the event not only productive but also inspiring.
The clean-up drive did more than beautify the area. It helped improve water flow, reduce local flood risks, and enhance the habitat for local flora and fauna. More importantly, it strengthened the community's resolve to protect Tagamusing River and other natural resources.
This event is a testament to what can be achieved when government agencies, academic institutions, and local communities work together toward a common goal. It stands as a strong reminder that every small act of care contributes to a greater cause—and that a cleaner, greener future is possible through collective action.
